Castle Rat

A quick fan art of one of my recent favorite bands, Castle Rat! It's a heavy /doom metal from the US, and they have these very theatrical, very camp-ish stage personas on stage, that serve well their fantasy-themed lyrics. Couldn't decide which background I prefered, so I'm posting both. Listen to their album "The Bestiary", it's awesome. Enjoy~

The Vampire Lestat

Had a bit of fun yesterday drawing this Lestat, inspired by the posture and lighting in this gorgeous photograph by Marina Choy. I figured the projected shadow hands would fit a majestic vampire perfectly, and I'm pleased by the result. Are you? 🩸

Inktober 2023 - Horrortober

After many internal deliberations, I gave another shot at the October inking challenge, this time following Horrortober (a list by @m_saltel and @slysill!) Happy Halloween! 🎃

This year, my only personal constraints were:
- small format
- direct ink drawing, no sketch
Let's try not to be about perfect details, for once!

Witch Fever

Two years ago I discovered this band with the song "Toothless", that instantly got me on fire! Earlier this month, they played in Nîmes so we went to see them-- and it was fucking awesome. I've been listening to their songs on repeat since then, and felt a need to draw something that would be reminiscent of this energy I felt during their show... a mix of excitement, danger, and well, bewitching? lol
Anyways here's my humble-but-flammable tribute to them! 🔥🤘

Les tourments

To celebrate the beginning of another rusty October, here is my doom metal rendition of French rapper ANTHA's beautiful song, "Les Tourments" 💀

2020 brought many calamities, but some good stuff too. Among the good stuff, I discovered ANTHA's solo album "Spleen" - an amazingly dark and ethereal album, and so far my favorite this year. I was already a fan of ORTIES (her rap band with her sister) and this goes even beyond. The production, the ambient, the lyrics (in French of course) are superb. I dare to say that I consider "Spleen" like a modern goth gem, and I don't care if "it's a rap record, it cannot be goth"; to me it's all about aesthetics, and here there is definitely "that thing" I like in dark music!

Last August, I was SO MUCH into this album that I decided to work on a doom metal 'adaptation' of the song "Les tourments", as I found that the words would suit so well this kind of mood. Enjoy! 😌

Mytho Logique: 10 Years

On this very day, 10 years ago, I graduated from my animation/vfx art school with the release of Mytho Logique, a 3D animation short film I co-directed with 4 friends. This little film was the starting point of my professional carreer, and 2 months after graduation, I left Montpellier to start a job in London.

I put a lot of myself in it, and I must admit, 10 years later, than it probably has been the only time I got this chance. As a result, this film remains an important achievement to me and I am very grateful people are still entertained by it, given the number of views and comments on Vimeo and Youtube and the fact that the audio was translated in other languages! It is simply amazing.

To mark the occasion, I wanted to revisit quickly the world of Mytho, and since I don't work in 3D anymore, here's an illustration! Fun fact: the composition is very loosely based on "The Infancy of Bacchus", a painting by Louis De Boulogne The Younger (1654-1733). Enjoy!
